Play is far more powerful for children, however, than many parents realize. It is actually the key to learning. Researchers and educators across the world have found that play can help enrich learning and develop key skills such as inquiry, expression, experimentation, and teamwork. We need to consider that young children learn in quite different ways (than adults). They learn by comparing physical experiences, by interactions with other people and their own feelings. And they learn an enormous amount through their imagination. Play is what pulls together the logical and creative parts of the brain.
Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain’s pathways, which lead to the child’s ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.
We as humans are multi-sensory beings and as such, we learn through all our senses. Engaging as many senses as possible during the integration, absorption and retention of knowledge is imperative to learning.
That’s where the adventure box comes in…
An adventure box is an educational and creative tool kit which aids children and parents in learning, discovering and exploration while engaging as many sense as possible during the activities. Each box is different and will explore things like ABC’S, numbers, colours and many other different themes.
We live in a world that is becoming more and more technologically driven, turning our world 2D, we’re multi-sensory beings and our children are even more so as they learn and discover their bodies, themselves and their worlds through their senses and bodies. Learning should be playful, fun and engage one’s self as much as possible.
By engaging as many senses as possible children are brought into the here and now, creating attention, focus and concentration, allowing them to be present within themselves. We know others by knowing ourselves first. The intake, processing and retention of information is greater when more than one sense is used during learning.
Creativity is integral to learning and growth and as technology takes over our lives, we are losing more and more of our creativity and self-expression.
Our bright spark who created this lovely product:
Jacqui, the creator of this range for children
I found myself alone and unemployed early this year, with a little three year-old daughter so I have had the pleasure of her input on all of my Children’s Range.
The range of items have been created lovingly, with passion and a desire to make them “different”
