Turmeric (Curcuma longa) has a long history of use in traditional medicine. This flavor-filled spice is primarily cultivated from the rhizomes, or roots, of a flowering plant that grows in India and other parts of Southeast Asia, and aside from giving curry its vibrant yellow color, turmeric is also known for having potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
The primary active component of turmeric — and the one that gives the spice its characteristic yellow color, and health benefits — is curcumin.

Chronic inflammation may be caused by infections that don’t go away, abnormal immune reactions to normal tissues, or conditions such as obesity. Over time, chronic
inflammation can cause DNA damage and lead to cancer. For example, people with chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn disease, have an increased risk of colon cancer.

CBD (Cannabidiol). Studies: Several studies have looked at CBD’s
effectiveness against arthritic pain, all with positive results. Cornell study found dogs given CBD at 4.4 mg/lb twice daily for a month showed significant improvement in pain relief and quality of life. Lead investigator Joe Wakshlag, DVM, Ph.D., DACVN, said that some dogs were initially so decrepit that their owners considered euthanasia, but that after just days on CBD they were trotting around and even climbing stairs.

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)
is an organosulfur compound- it is a colorless liquid. It penetrates the skin very readily.
It can be used as a single agent. And example would be treating your dog or cat with knee swelling and arthritis.
DMSO can be applied topically to the affected joint – typically twice daily.

Castor Oil
Studies have shown that when castor oil is applied topically, it reduces inflammation and relieves pain.
One study demonstrated that treatment with a gel containing ricinoleic acid led to a significant reduction in pain and inflammation when applied to the skin,
compared to other treatment methods.

HOMEOPATHIC
Traumeel – an emerging option to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the management of acute musculoskeletal injuries
Traumeel appears to be well tolerated, with no signs of severe adverse events and no evidence of gastrointestinal bleeding. NSAIDs may cause gastrointestinal ulceration and bleeding, and are a particular risk for patients with diseases, on co-medications, or who are elderly.

Curcumin for Arthritis
Study: Curcumin May Help Ease Symptoms of Osteoarthritis Thanks to its potent anti-inflammatory properties, curcumin may be a safe and effective long-term
treatment option for people with osteoarthritis (OA). At least, that was the conclusion of the authors of a recent review of the clinical use of curcumin for the treatment of osteoarthritis. The review was first published online in August 2021 as part of the Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology book series.
