Collolidal Silver for Weight Loss?

Does Colloidal Silver Help in Weight Loss?

While there have been no clinical studies relating colloidal silver use to weight loss, I’ve had several folks report successful weight loss they’d connected to colloidal silver usage.

And it’s possible this is not without precedent. Scientists have discovered that low-level bacterial infections can do more than simply cause infection, and in some cases, they can cause you to gain extra weight.

Is it possible that colloidal silver help some people lose excess weight by destroying the fat-causing pathogens in their bodies? The truth is, it just isn’t known for sure, one way or the other.

But as I just mentioned, there are some interesting anecdotal accounts of weight loss that began spontaneously after colloidal silver usage.

Can colloidal silver trigger weight loss? And if so, how and why?

One of our community members in the Colloidal Silver Secrets Group on Facebook posted this intriguing personal story:

“I have always stopped short of crediting colloidal silver for the weight loss I’ve experienced over the last year and a half…but I have no other explanation. I live a fairly active life off grid chasing a 4 yr old son and taking care of our farm…ducks goats n rabbits but I don’t work out or exercise on purpose ever…haven’t changed my diet whatsoever eat ‘n drink what I want…  And still have all of a sudden lost 25 lbs…I’m 38 1/2 and had a baby at 34 and I’m at the weight I was when I met my husband at age 27!!!!  Not to mention I have way more energy (still not enough for a 4 yr old boy though, sigh)….I make a 1/2-1 gal of colloidal silver a day…my dogs cat goats ducks ‘n rabbits come running for theirs everyday…dogs n cat have a bowl beside their water dish at all times…  It’s been lifesaver on our farm (literally) and gives us the ability to raise our own meat completely antibiotic ‘n vaccination free!”

It could simply be healthy living and healthy eating, from the farm life she apparently lives. But it is very interesting indeed that she’s lost so much weight since she started using colloidal silver.

Enterobacter cloacae: The Obesity Microbe
However, when I came across the following clinical study, originally published in the peer-reviewed journal of the International Society for Microbial Ecology, I have to admit that I couldn’t help but think about her startling testimonial. According to the study, researchers found that a common gut bacteria known as Enterobacter cloacae can cause “development of obesity in its human host.”

According to an online article about the study, published in the Financial Times:
“Obesity in human beings could be caused by bacterial infection rather than eating too much, exercising too little or genetics, according to a groundbreaking study that could have profound implications for public health systems, the pharmaceutical industry and food manufacturers.

…The bacterium – known as enterobacter – encourages the body to make and store fat, and prevents it from being used, by deregulating the body’s metabolism-controlling genes. ‘This is a very important phenomenon,’ said Professor Zhao Liping, who with a team at Shanghai Jiao Tong University carried out the research. ‘It is the last missing piece of evidence bacteria causes obesity.'”

According to the study, the scientists put a 384 pound morbidly obese male patient on a special diet of “whole grains, traditional Chinese medicines and non-digestible carbohydrates.” The special diet was designed to radically alter the pH in the patient’s gut, so that the Enterobacter bacteria could no longer function as effectively.  This radical change in gut pH apparently weakens the bacteria to the point it can no longer disrupt the body’s metabolism-controlling genes. In other words, it prevents the bacteria from shutting off your body’s ability to burn fat.

The patient, who was restricted from exercising during the course of the study, proceeded to lose 29% of his body weight in 23 weeks. What’s more, he also “recovered from diabetes, high blood pressure and fatty liver disease.”  Now this study obviously has absolutely nothing to do with colloidal silver. My only point in bringing it up is that researchers are discovering that low-level bacterial infections in the gut can indeed trigger weight gain.

Will Colloidal Silver Help?
As an interesting side note, the late biochemist, James South, claimed electrically generated colloidal silver does indeed kill at least two species of Enterobacter cloacae, the so-called “obesity bacteria” discussed in the first study noted at the beginning of this article. According to South:
“…Electrically-generated colloidal silver [Ag(e)] has been shown to kill dozens of bacteria, including…two strains of Enterobacter cloacae…”

This is further borne out by research conducted in 1999 by Dr. Ron W. Leavitt, Ph.D. and researcher David A. Revilli, Microbiologist, at Brigham Young University, in which it was reported that Enterobacter cloacae was inhibited and killed in test tube studies at a concentration of only 5 ppm.

Nevertheless, while colloidal silver has long been said to be effective against up to 650 different pathogenic microorganisms, the truth is there’s simply no clinical research whatsoever linking colloidal silver usage to weight loss.
However, another member of the Colloidal Silver Secrets Community wrote some time back about the success he was having with weight loss after starting a daily colloidal silver usage regimen. And I think his testimony is fascinating, considering what we’ve learned in the course of this article. He stated:

“I was incredibly obese and getting worse before colloidal silver.
The first to go was the horrible bloating, my man breasts reduced in size within two weeks of use. One side was getting sore, like a nodule was forming on my right man tit. It’s gone too!
I haven’t returned to my desired weight yet… But activity level has quadrupled, compulsive eating is under control, I just don’t get the heart burn like I used to if I hadn’t eaten.
I don’t require food throughout the day because I’m just not hungry, unless I’ve been working and high activity. I used to just worry about food all the time though.
Plus, I suffered from out-of-control heartburn, and hunger pains on these long jobs, and if I didn’t have something to eat I’d turn into a monster.
On my first job with taking colloidal silver, I only had oatmeal for breakfast, and 2-3 oranges between 4am-8pm. I was fine for the first time in years.”

And here’s another remarkable story from Community member R.B.:

Why Some and Not Others?
The fact that a small handful of people with weight problems seem to be helped by regular colloidal silver usage, while others don’t seem to be, might be explained by the idea discussed in the Daily Express news article I quoted from earlier, i.e., that only 33% of obese men and women show signs of having contracted the fat-boosting adenovirus at some point in their lives.
This would indicate that most cases of weight gain may not be associated at all with underlying low-level infections of pathogens known to trigger obesity, while a smaller percentage (apparently up to one-third of obese people) just might be.
Of course, that’s only what researchers have discovered about adenovirus. It doesn’t take into account Enterobacter or any other microbe that might be a trigger for weight gain.
So the truth is, no one really knows how many cases of weight gain might be associated with low-level microbial infections, and how many might be associated with other causes.

Yours for the safe, sane and responsible use of colloidal silver,
